Bio

Leah Brieva is an artist currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Raised by her mother in Evanston, IL alongside 6 siblings, his work engages with the complexities of family, neurodivergency, young adulthood, and navigation of queer identity as a person of color. He approaches his self-portraiture as a diary and collection of personal narratives. The work consists of carefully composed arrangements with a passion for color that cannot be ignored. Brieva delights in continuing threads of personal iconography throughout her body of work, this hidden language acting as easter eggs for the audience to attempt to decipher. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art and has been awarded the Fred & Joanna Lazarus Scholarship, the Creative Vision Award, the DaVinci Award, and the Louise Goffe Memorial Scholarship. She has exhibited in group shows and is excited for what is to come. If you’d like to get in contact, the artist can be reached at leahbrieva@gmail.com
